Significant Alliance
 |
While the work of the WCNVAW involves the formation of
alliances and networks too numerous to mention, the major
alliances where financial and human resources are shared
are:
-The
Sarah Baartman Centre:
a “one stop” centre for women and children who experience
domestic and / or sexual violence, where the WCNVAW is
housed. Please refer to Attachment B for an Information
Brochure providing further details on the Centre.
-The
Western Cape
Intersect Coalition (Intersect):
member organisations of the WCNVAW working in the sector of
gender based violence are linking with organisations
working in the HIV/Aids sector. |

Alliance
with the Departments of Social Development and Housing, the
City of Cape Town, the Commission on Gender Equality and the
Office of the Premier:
developing a strategy to end violence against women. This
includes looking at the roots of gender-based violence;
causes of such violence; the contributing factors and the
development of minimum standards based on policy operational
guidelines, mechanisms and structures, resource and budget
allocation, service delivery, training, advocacy, awareness
raising, monitoring and evaluation. These standards are to
be developed and adopted by each government department to
fulfil its role in bringing about an end to violence against
women.
